Growing up on his grandparents' farm in Taiwan, James Hsieh has always been fascinated by nature's diversity and bounty and by the infinite possibilities that wait to be discovered. In his current practice, he makes two-dimensional works from drawings that then become murals and, eventually, transform into large-format installations. Using soft felt and textiles, he creates solid forms with the intention of building an immersive environment that activates the viewer's childlike amazement at nature.
Sage Gallon was born in New York and raised in a Northern California commune before returning to the East Coast as a teenager. Gallon was always an artist. He drew before he could write and acted before he could spell. A photographer, painter, and self-published poet, Sage’s journey was not without struggles. Gallon spent 10 years on the streets battling an addiction stronger than he was. The experience taught him love (for those who save AND those who suffer), strength, and empathy; tools that are vital to his approach to art and to how he lives & gives of his life.
Passionate about color since childhood, Gustavo Fernández sees the world as a kaleidoscope of different shades, shapes, and shared ideals. The people he meets, the places he sees, and the experiences he lives become a part of his painter’s palette. Born in Venezuela with Cuban roots, Fernandez moved to NYC in the middle of the pandemic to live out his dream of making art in the Big Apple. He is inspired by people and stories- by the way they intertwine and connect us, create shared experience, and ultimately lead to true empathy.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Milagros Batista is inspired by her upbringing and the strong women around her. Moving to Brooklyn during the civil rights movement, she was influenced by the power of her surroundings—the ocean, music, food, and people. With a background in Spanish literature and social work, Milagros uses her knitting and crocheting talent to engage young girls and women in the inner city to embrace their creativity. Her work has gained recognition in fashion and media, connecting her artistry to a larger community.
Vanesa Álvarez is a Brooklyn-based muralist and visual artist from northern Spain whose work centers on community, connection, and social impact. Using bold color, geometry, and symbolism, she transforms public spaces into vibrant, accessible works of art that invite reflection and engagement. Her murals often explore themes of equality, ecology, and collective identity, bringing people together through shared experiences and a sense of place.
