Show Title: Spread Love…(It’s the Brooklyn Way)
Art is such a universal language. Through its use many artists spark provocative thoughts, deep emotions and they may even rouse up Calls to Action amongst their audience. A language as powerful as this can spur transformative work, and it’s now more than ever that we need to answer its call to Spread Love.
Art On The Ave NYC presents our first exhibition in the borough of Brooklyn curated by Jomani Danielle. The theme “Spread Love… (It’s The Brooklyn Way)” provides an opportunity for artists throughout the borough to seek love in their creative processes, to seek love in their everyday routines, to seek love in their neighborhoods and to seek love in their interactions with people and their neighbors. After their search they can bring their spoils back to the community and share the wealth with the community through the art that fits this theme.
The goal is to motivate us all to search for everyday moments and interactions that enrich and envelop our lives with love and connection, deepening our gratitude for the gift of life and community.
What will the project look like?
Art on the Ave uses vacant storefronts and existing businesses in high-visibility locations to create interactive art exhibitions for all to enjoy. Our next exhibition will be a collaboration between Art on the Ave NYC and New York Presbyterian Hospitals.
Technical Parameters:
Artwork must be:
2-dimensional
There are two sizes of gallery walls. 2ft wide and 4ft wide. Pieces CANNOT exceed 36in by 36in.
Gallery-Ready (ie. photography must be framed either without glass or with non-reflective glass, canvas must be stretched and wired)
Project Timeline:
April 5, 2024: Application Deadline
April 10, 2024: Selections Announced
April 20, 2024: Deadline for artwork to be deposited at storage facility
May 1, 2024: Installation
July 31st, 2024: End of Project

Artwork Image - May submit up to 3 pieces for consideration (submitted as a JPeg or PNG, maximum 5 MB per image)

Price (cannot exceed $3,000)
Applications not submitted according to our guidelines may not be considered.
Please note, our exhibitions are contingent on spaces being donated by property owners. Therefore, we can not guarantee that an exhibition will move forward until we know which spaces are confirmed
