Alannah Sears

It is human nature to strive for comfort and belonging; whether that be a sense of family, an item, a state of mind, or a community. Alannah strives for a sense of self, a place to call home, to look upon her reflection, and to embrace her truest form. Alannah’s work concentrates on comfort and authentic expression that rides on the back of identity, humor, and a touch of modern nihilism. Alannah works with familiar imagery that she documents herself in times of hyperfixation, using her likeness, the people closest to her, and her surroundings as subjects. A focus on an individual subject, whether that be an item, pattern, or person, builds the piece and sets a focal point of observation. With a lifetime on the internet and struggles with anxiety and depression, Alannah’s art sheds light on mundane moments we've grown to overlook.
