Scott Milan
I am a painter based in the Lower East Side at a pivotal moment in my career. As a recent graduate from FIT (2025), I have more time to submit applications to grants, prizes, and the Call to Art. Recently, I have been able to create impact in my community (curating eight artists besides myself), and have worked incredibly hard to work for top art scholars: Syd Krochmalny and Warren Neidich. I have taken those potions to grow as artists, and to support myself through school. I have been painting for five years and managed to accomplish a lot. As a queer artist that is a feat in itself, and as a highly marginalized group in society, I have personally experienced discrimination and the hardships that come with being queer. Most recently, I am looking for space to exhibit and create art as I have maxed out the space available in my home-studio – created well over hundreds of quality, deep, thought provoking and experimental paintings.
As an artist who has worked in the back of clothing stores in the Lower East Side (Allen & Hester Street). I am strongly integrated into the modern LES art scene, and can contribute meaningfully to the Art on the Ave organization. Through my institutional connections, and wide network of artists. I believe that as I continue to emerge in my career, this is a crucial moment, where I require support and help from others to bring my vision for myself and others to life.
