Artist Statement

"You're never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream." Sandra White was almost 60 years old when a friend handed her a piece of charcoal and encouraged her to "just try it". That was the catalyst to jump-start her on a path as a visual artist. Sandra's impressive collection includes acrylic, charcoal, and pastel paintings. Based in New York, Sandra has studied at The Art Students League, Salmagundi Galleries, and Monmouth County Arts Alliance.

Sandra White’s contemporary abstract series titled “The Community Garden” is inspired by her love for the garden, and the joyful color it brings to the community. As a New Yorker she is heartened by neighbors building something from nothing, stewarding a green space to provide a natural escape for the community. Sandra has found a sense of pride and enthusiasm from neighbors working together. In her paintings, she uses vibrant luscious color to convey abstract wildflowers, veggies, foot paths, stone walks, broken fences, trees. Be inspired and enjoy!
